How do you solve a problem like Maria?

Have to start with that we both have really liked Austria. But because of accommodation issues we booked ahead for Munich, In hind sight we are a little gutted as on the tour around Salzburg we stumbled across tens of little places that really need more than the twenty minutes that we had to explore on our tour.
It was ‘The Sound of Music’ tour. Sarah really did want to see the whole story unfold before our eyes. It was a little pricey but hey, it’s the sound of music right! (That’s what happens when you have a wife). So off we went with a full bus load, of random singing ‘The Sound of Music’ freaks – I have know idea where they found that many people obsessed with the sound of music just queuing up to see all attractions. They couldn’t have squashed more people in the bus if they tried. As a bonus we also got to listen to the original soundtrack in between places – Oh my god, what a rush. Also we got a packet of edelweiss so we can watch it bloom and grow forever.
Our tour guide named Steve was a shining example of an American, and had an interesting way of running the tour… During the tour we got to see the Gazebo (Glass house – the song with ‘you are 16 going on 17…), The back location of the Vontrap house, the front of the Vontrap house (they where different houses), the Abby, the river, as well as going into the Lake District which was seen in the final credits of the movie. This was the bit that it got a little better for me, it was absolutely amazing and we both would have got accommodation there – but it would have cost a fortune as it was tourist central, so maybe it’s just as well we have a hostel booked for Munich, and I can’t wait to get back to Germany so far I would rate Germany as my Favourite.
We will defiantly be coming back to Salzburg, to do the Lake District. There is a cable car that goes up to the top of a massive mountain and a lake that is just crystal clear, and lots of walks to do, you could spend a week there!
